Final comments

But wait...there's more... Just when you thought it was safe to complete 2.0, there's more. Apparently 3 exists 'The semantic web'... so is that a play on words?????
In the year that we have discovered web 2.0, I have come across a number of these 'things' as a matter of course. It is funny how something so daunting becomes almost familiar over a short period. As much as I am now familiar with many of the applications in 2.0, technology is exceeding my expectations and budget. However, I now have a digital camera (still learning to drive it), and a PS3 (with 'Blue ray' apparently) which came for free when we bought a new LCD TV. So I'm really with it now.... I am finally entering 21st century, albeit kicking and screaming....
Cheers....I am now going home to try one of the new cocktail options learned from "Cocktail builder". See there is life after 2.0.

Podcasts etc - Last but not least

Very excited about being in the home straight.... However, blocked again. YouTube - no go.
Bloglines - Phill must have far too much time on his hands, if he has time to look at all those blogs!? NetLibrary seems to be potentially bigger than 'Ben Hur'. So many titles (160,000) and a great opportunity for people to access audio & e-books. (if only I had a MP3...)

Cocktail Builder

Well I never.... Using the contents of my liquor cabinet...which is severely depleted....I can make some of the following cocktails;
Black Russian, Blow job, Half & half shot, Jack cafe, Woodfather, Kiss of an angel, B-52, b.t.c., Baby guinness, Baileys chocolate martini......an that's just 1/2 of the first page. Looks like the Xmas party this year may have more kick!
No wonder this website was a winner of the Web 2.0 awards!
I really wanted to have a look at "Im cooked"....just up my alley.... blocked by BBC....damn!

Zoho (cheats MS Office)

It was interesting to find the number of applications available through these online applications. I learned of 'openoffice.org' last week, when answering an equiry about MS office programs. Products such as Zoho, Google Docs and Openoffice, enable PC users to access MS Office applications (and more...) without purchasing the suite. (Which of course appeals to the smart savvy shopper in me....why pay for something, when you can get it for free?)

Wikis

Or should I say "quickies"? After all 'Wiki' apparently means quick in Hawaiian. Having seen some wikis in action, thanks to Trevor & QMS, I can see their mutlitude of uses. The main advantage I can see, is the means of communicating with a number of contributors without emailing back & forth. Great for conferences, meetings, collaborative projects etc. as everyone can contribute and make comments. The ability to make the wiki private or public means that control over the wiki is manageable, if desired.

News...

Thanks for the training yesterday guys, it was great. I realised that I had actually looked at RSS feeds etc. The features we looked at yesterday gave me the confidence to at least sound like I know what I'm doing.
The image generators look like fun. Phill was very excited by Library Thing (as excited as Phill can be....) A very useful site for interested readers or collectors. Something I think we will all recommend to library users. (We better watch out....library journals may become defunct???)

Well, it has been some time since I blogged anything. As I don't have anything remotely digital in my life, I have not added any photos.
I have managed to look at steps 1-3, and will be looking at the others perhaps in the demos, or some time inbetween now and when our 2.0 champion leave to have her baby!?!?!?!
